Primary Curriculum
Curriculum Prep - Six
At Redeemer Lutheran College, Biloela the Australian Curriculum is used in all Key Subject areas.
CHRISTIAN STUDIES
Students participate in weekly Christian Studies lesson formulated with the Lutheran Education Australia Christian Studies Framework.
ENGLISH
Our English program follows the three strands of the Australian Curriculum: Language, Literature, and Literacy. We use evidence-based practices from the Science of Reading, focusing on explicit teaching of foundational skills. Students learn phonics and spelling through a systematic, synthetic approach, supported by phonological awareness and oral language. Vocabulary and comprehension are developed using rich, authentic texts and structured lessons in word origins and meanings. Writing is taught using The Writing Revolution, which breaks the process into clear, manageable steps. Students build confidence in writing sentences and paragraphs as they progress.
MATHEMATICS
Our Mathematics program is guided by the Australian Curriculum, covering Number, Algebra, Measurement, Space, Statistics and Probability. We focus on building strong foundations in understanding, fluency, reasoning, and problem-solving. In Prep to Year 2, students learn through the Explicit Mathematics Instruction Program, which provides clear, structured lessons to develop essential skills. From Year 3 onwards, students continue to deepen their mathematical knowledge through engaging activities and real-world applications.
HASS (HUMANITIES AND SOCIAL SCIENCES)
In the Australian Curriculum, the Humanities and Social Sciences learning area includes a study of History, Geography, Civics and Citizenship, and Economics and Business.
SCIENCE
Science inquiry skills and practices are used to teach science at Redeemer. This increases an interest in science and expands students’ curiosity and willingness to explore. In doing so, students will increase their ability to solve problems and make informed decisions about current and future applications of science.
HEALTH
The Australian Curriculum Health content is taught by the classroom teacher.

Cluster groupings also enable multi-age participation, allowing students to mix with peers and teachers from different year levels and helping to build confidence and connection across the College.
INTERHOUSE COMPETITIONS
